Preserving a Legacy. Building the Future.
Manufacturing Excellence Published 15 July 2026 6 min read
Strategic acquisition of manufacturing assets from B. Braun strengthens Aditya Dispomed's manufacturing capabilities and expands its portfolio of precision surgical blades.
Key Takeaways
  • Strategic acquisition of manufacturing assets from B. Braun's surgical blade operations
  • Seven container loads of specialised equipment relocated from Malaysia to India
  • Vacuum heat treatment furnace and precision grinding systems integrated into production
  • Enabled launch of KIATO Plus Fine Surgical Blades for ophthalmic, reconstructive and microsurgery use

Some investments are measured by the equipment they bring. Others are measured by the manufacturing capability, engineering knowledge and opportunities they create for the future.

The story behind Aditya Dispomed's strategic acquisition of manufacturing assets from B. Braun begins long before 2024.

In 1970, Kehr Surgical, the parent company of Aditya Dispomed, pioneered the manufacture of disposable surgical blades in India. Since 1975, the company has supplied international markets, building more than five decades of expertise in precision surgical blade manufacturing.

During the same period, Aesculap, today the surgical division of B. Braun, established itself as one of the world's most respected names in surgical instruments and precision manufacturing.

When the opportunity arose in 2024 to acquire selected manufacturing assets from B. Braun's surgical blade manufacturing operations, we recognised it as far more than an equipment acquisition. We saw an opportunity to strengthen our manufacturing platform by integrating proven production technologies developed by one of the industry's most respected manufacturers.

A Strategic Investment in Manufacturing Capability

The acquisition involved the transfer of seven full container loads of specialised manufacturing equipment, tooling and production assets from B. Braun's manufacturing facility in Malaysia to Aditya Dispomed in India.

Among the equipment acquired was a state-of-the-art vacuum heat treatment furnace together with specialised blade manufacturing, grinding and production systems developed specifically for precision surgical blade manufacturing.

For Aditya Dispomed, this represented access to highly specialised manufacturing technologies that would have required a substantially greater investment if procured as new equipment. More importantly, it accelerated our manufacturing capabilities while allowing us to continue investing in product development, manufacturing innovation and process improvement.

Beyond Equipment — Transferring Manufacturing Knowledge

The success of such an acquisition depends on much more than transporting machinery.

Following the relocation of the manufacturing assets, engineers and specialists from B. Braun Malaysia worked alongside the Aditya Dispomed team during installation and commissioning in India. This collaborative approach ensured that valuable manufacturing knowledge accompanied the transfer of the production equipment and enabled its successful integration into our manufacturing operations.

For us, this represented the transfer of manufacturing capability—not simply machinery.

Expanding Our Product Portfolio

One of the most significant outcomes of this acquisition has been the expansion of our product portfolio.

The acquired tooling and production technologies enabled Aditya Dispomed to introduce KIATO Plus Fine Surgical Blades, extending our range beyond conventional surgical blades into precision applications including ophthalmic, reconstructive and microsurgery. This complements our established portfolio of standard surgical blades, gouge blades and skin graft blades while strengthening our ability to serve specialist surgical disciplines.

This investment therefore supports not only manufacturing capability but also product innovation and future growth.

The range of fine blades includes specialised blades used in dentistry, ophthalmology, podiatry and even beauty care for hair transplants.

The range includes sizes 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 67, 68, 69, SP90 & SP91.

Continuing the Pursuit of Manufacturing Excellence

Manufacturing excellence is rarely the result of a single investment.

It is built through decades of continuous improvement.

The manufacturing technologies acquired from B. Braun have now been integrated with Aditya Dispomed's own investments in premium Alleima stainless steel, Swiss BRUDERER high-speed stamping technology, advanced grinding systems, modern cleanroom facilities and automated manufacturing processes.

Together, these investments strengthen our ability to manufacture precision surgical blades that consistently meet the demanding expectations of OEM partners and healthcare professionals around the world.

Looking Ahead

Disposable surgical blades are among the most established products used in modern surgery.

Yet we believe that even mature products can continue to evolve through better materials, improved manufacturing technologies, precision engineering and continuous innovation.

Every major investment we make is guided by a simple question:

Every major investment at Aditya Dispomed is evaluated against one simple question: Will this help us manufacture a better surgical blade? If the answer is yes, we believe it is an investment worth making.

The acquisition of manufacturing assets from B. Braun represents another important milestone in a journey that began more than five decades ago. It reflects our continuing commitment to preserving valuable manufacturing capability, expanding our product portfolio and investing in technologies that support the highest standards of precision, consistency and quality.

As we continue to build for the future, our objective remains unchanged:

Not simply to manufacture more surgical blades—but to manufacture better ones.

Precision Begins with the Material
Manufacturing Excellence Published 15 July 2026 3 min read
Leading Swedish specialty steel manufacturer Alleima highlights Aditya Dispomed's commitment to quality, innovation and precision manufacturing.
Key Takeaways
  • Premium Swedish stainless steel used in surgical blade manufacturing
  • Global recognition by Alleima as an OEM surgical blade manufacturer
  • Long-term commitment to medical grade stainless steel and material excellence
  • Supporting precision surgical blade manufacturing for 80+ countries

In February 2024, Alleima, the Swedish manufacturer of advanced stainless steels and specialty alloys, featured Aditya Dispomed in a global customer case study highlighting our shared commitment to material excellence and precision manufacturing.

Every precision surgical blade begins long before it reaches the grinding wheel or enters a cleanroom. It begins with one of the most fundamental decisions any manufacturer can make—the choice of material.

At Aditya Dispomed, we have always believed that the quality of a surgical blade cannot exceed the quality of the steel from which it is manufactured. While advanced manufacturing equipment, precision grinding and rigorous quality systems are essential, they can only realise the full potential of a material that has been engineered for demanding cutting applications.

This philosophy has guided our manufacturing decisions for more than two decades.

It is also the reason why Aditya Dispomed has built a long-standing technical relationship with Alleima, Sweden, one of the world's leading manufacturers of advanced stainless steels and specialty alloys. In recognition of this collaboration and our shared commitment to engineering excellence, Alleima featured Aditya Dispomed in a global customer story highlighting our approach to manufacturing premium surgical blades.

For us, this recognition represents far more than a supplier relationship. It reflects a shared belief that excellence is achieved through uncompromising attention to every stage of the manufacturing process—from material selection to precision engineering, heat treatment, grinding, inspection and final packaging.

Our commitment to premium raw materials forms part of a broader philosophy of continuous investment in manufacturing excellence. This same philosophy has guided our investments in advanced Swiss high-speed stamping presses, precision grinding technologies, modern cleanroom facilities and automated manufacturing systems. Every investment is made with a single objective: to manufacture surgical blades that deliver consistent performance, reliability and quality for healthcare professionals around the world.

The relationship between Aditya Dispomed and Alleima demonstrates the value of partnerships built on shared values rather than simple commercial transactions. Both organisations believe that innovation, technical expertise and continuous improvement are fundamental to achieving the highest standards of quality.

As a company supplying customers in more than 80 countries, Aditya Dispomed remains committed to selecting the finest materials, investing in world-class manufacturing technologies and continuously improving every aspect of its manufacturing process. We believe these decisions, often made long before a product reaches production, are what ultimately define the quality and performance of the finished surgical blade.
